Silicon Test Engineer
QualcommJob Title
Silicon Test Engineer
Role Summary
Member of the Product Development and Test Engineering group responsible for design validation, characterization, and production deployment of silicon IPs for 5G products. Work closely with IC design, software, systems, and operations teams to enable manufacturability and release cost-effective production test solutions.
Experience Level
Mid-level. Candidates with early-career to several years of experience in product test, validation, or production activities are suitable; relevant experience with test equipment and ATE is expected.
Responsibilities
The role focuses on silicon bring-up, test development, characterization across corners, and transferring tests to high-volume manufacturing.
- Operate automated test equipment (ATE) to validate and debug new product functionality.
- Develop test hardware and software for silicon bring-up and production testing.
- Characterize devices across process, voltage, and temperature corners and environmental conditions.
- Collaborate with design, software, systems, and manufacturing teams to achieve manufacturability and release production tests.
- Analyze test data and recommend yield, performance, and cost improvements.
- Document test plans, procedures, and transfer requirements for high-volume manufacturing.
- Perform bench measurements using oscilloscopes, spectrum/network analyzers, signal generators, logic analyzers, and other test instruments.
- Install and transport test equipment and perform bench work for extended periods as required.
Requirements
Below are concise must-have and nice-to-have qualifications based on the posting.
Must-have:
- Hands-on experience operating ATE and debugging silicon at the bench or production level.
- Experience with bench measurement equipment (oscilloscope, spectrum analyzer, logic analyzer, signal generator).
- Experience in test development, validation, or production test for SoC or semiconductor products.
- Programming skills for test automation and data analysis (Python, C++, or similar).
- Practical experience with schematic capture and circuit simulation tools.
Nice-to-have:
- Experience with Advantest or Teradyne ATE platforms.
- Knowledge of VLSI topics: digital design, CPU architecture, ATPG/DFT, memory testing, high-speed SerDes.
- Familiarity with analog/mixed-signal circuits (ADC, DAC, PLL, LDO, RF components) and RF measurements.
- Experience with data-analysis tools (JMP, NI tools, Exensio) and measurement instruments such as Rohde & Schwarz.
- Embedded software or assembly experience and familiarity with ARM or microcontroller architectures.
- Experience transferring tests to high-volume manufacturing and improving yield.
Education Requirements
Required: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical/Electronics Engineering, Engineering, or a related field. Preferred: Master’s degree in Electrical, Electronics, Mechatronics, Computer Science, or related fields. The posting allows related technical fields; no specific certifications were listed.
