Silicon Test Engineer
QualcommJob Title
Silicon Test Engineer
Role Summary
Member of the Product Development and Test Engineering team responsible for design validation, characterization, and production deployment of leading-edge IPs for 5G products in advanced FinFET processes.
Work closely with IC Design, Software, Systems and Operations to validate silicon, develop test HW/SW, characterize across corners, and release cost-effective production test solutions for high-volume manufacturing.
Experience Level
Mid-level. Candidates with ~1+ years of product development, test validation or high-volume production experience related to SoC testing are preferred.
Responsibilities
Key responsibilities include silicon validation, test development and production readiness.
- Operate automated test equipment (ATE) to validate and debug new product functionality.
- Develop test hardware and software for characterization and production testing.
- Characterize devices across process/voltage/temperature corners and system conditions.
- Collaborate with IC design, software, systems and operations teams to enable manufacturability and yield.
- Create and release cost-effective production test solutions and documentation for mass manufacturing.
- Analyze test data, diagnose failures, and implement corrective actions.
- Maintain and use lab and measurement equipment; set up and install test fixtures and instruments.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and practical experience, plus desirable additions.
- Must-have: Hands-on experience with measurement/test equipment (oscilloscope, signal generator, spectrum analyzer, time interval analyzer, logic analyzer, network analyzer) and general lab instrumentation.
- Must-have: Experience in test HW/SW development, silicon validation, debugging and characterization for semiconductor products.
- Must-have: Practical scripting or programming skills (Python, C++, embedded software/assembly) for test automation and data analysis.
- Must-have: Familiarity operating or supporting ATE systems and interpreting test results.
- Must-have: Experience with schematic capture and circuit simulation tools (hands-on experience preferred).
- Nice-to-have: Experience with Advantest or Teradyne ATE, DFT/ATPG/JTAG, memory BIST, HS SerDes, SRAM/DRAM interfaces, ADC/DAC/PLL and other mixed-signal measurement techniques.
- Nice-to-have: Familiarity with data analysis software (JMP, NI tools, Exensio) and domain knowledge in CPU, logic test, sensors, or RF measurements.
- Physical/operational: Regular lab work and equipment transport (short distances, light loads); extended periods using computers and test equipment; effective verbal and written communication with cross-functional teams.
Education Requirements
Minimum: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical/Electronics Engineering, Engineering or a related field. Preferred: Master’s degree in Electrical, Electronics, Mechatronics, Computer Science or related fields.
