Job Title
Silicon System Validation Engineer
Role Summary
Design, develop, and validate complex silicon systems (SoCs and ASICs) and lead cross-functional system bring-up and validation activities. Collaborate with architecture, IP, firmware, electrical engineering, and product teams to deliver validated silicon solutions.
Responsible for post-silicon validation, laboratory debug, failure analysis, and delivering validation sign-off across multiple SoCs and projects.
Experience Level
Senior β typically 8+ years of hands-on experience in SoC bring-up and validation.
Responsibilities
Lead and coordinate system-level and SoC validation efforts, ensuring thorough test coverage and timely sign-off.
- Lead development, execution, and sign-off of SoC and end-to-end system validation plans.
- Plan, organize, and oversee silicon bring-up and validation activities across multiple SoCs.
- Execute and coordinate test and debug activities with cross-functional and plug-and-play teams to ensure validation coverage.
- Lead laboratory debug, silicon bug reproduction, failure analysis, and failure reporting across domains or projects.
- Identify and communicate technical risks related to silicon validation projects to stakeholders.
- Produce comprehensive validation reports with architecture, IP, firmware, EE, SoC, and product engineering teams.
- Adapt validation roadmaps and plans in an agile environment as requirements evolve.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and experience; preferred items listed separately.
-
Must-have: 8+ years of practical experience in bring-up and validation of complex SoC components.
-
Must-have: Experience leading silicon validation planning, execution, firmware development for validation, and validation sign-off processes.
-
Must-have: Hands-on experience with high-speed protocols (MIPI, PCIe, USB, DDR) and high-speed IO bring-up.
-
Must-have: Hands-on experience with laboratory equipment such as oscilloscopes, bit error rate testers (BERTs), protocol analyzers, and JTAG debuggers.
Preferred / nice-to-have:
- Experience with pre-silicon validation platforms (FPGA, emulation systems) and optimizing pre-silicon prototypes.
- Familiarity with ASIC design flow, silicon foundry test flow, and firmware development processes for silicon components.
- Experience integrating AI tools to improve workflows and knowledge of responsible AI practices.
- Experience collaborating closely with design, design verification, and post-silicon validation teams.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
