Job Title
Silicon Photonics Technology Architect / Senior System Architect for Data Center Applications
Role Summary
Lead R&D to develop next-generation silicon photonics (SiPh) solutions targeting data center applications, and potentially extending to automotive, quantum, sensor and biomedical uses.
Drive technology definition, device design and simulation, process integration, 3D heterogeneous integration, and optical test—coordinating across internal teams, customers, suppliers and external research partners.
Experience Level
Senior-level. Posting requires more than 3 years of relevant experience; PhD and 5+ years are listed as preferred.
Responsibilities
Deliver technical leadership and hands-on execution across the full development cycle for SiPh test vehicles and process flows.
- Define technology solutions for integrating novel materials (III-V, thin-film lithium niobate (TFLN), BTO, polymers, etc.) into a SiPh foundry flow.
- Perform device simulations, device design and layout, and define process stacks and integration flows for R&D vehicles.
- Coordinate design, process integration, fabrication and optical/electrical testing of R&D test vehicles.
- Lead cross-functional and external collaborations with customers, suppliers, universities and R&D consortia.
- Execute from concept through design, process integration and test to demonstrate end-to-end solutions, including packaging engagement.
- Support Environmental, Health, Safety & Security (EHS) requirements in all activities.
Requirements
Technical skills and proven experience required to plan and execute SiPh technology development projects.
- Practical experience in silicon photonics device physics, design and simulation tools.
- Experience with process technology integration and defining process stacks for foundry flows.
- Knowledge of 3D heterogeneous integration approaches and integration of new materials into SiPh platforms.
- Experience with optical test methods and device characterization.
- Proven ability to produce device layouts and prepare R&D test vehicles.
- Strong communication, project leadership and stakeholder coordination skills across internal and external partners.
- Ability to manage multi-party development projects and drive deliverables to completion.
- Commitment to EHS and safe working practices.
-
Nice-to-have: hands-on experience with InP, TFLN, BTO, novel modulators/materials and experience across data center, automotive, quantum, sensor or biomedical applications.
Education Requirements
Master's or PhD in Electrical Engineering, Physics, Materials Science, Optics (Master's or PhD required per posting; PhD is listed as preferred).
