Silicon Photonics PIC Layout Engineer
Role Summary
Responsible for creating and validating photonic integrated circuit (PIC) layouts and improving layout methodologies and flows. The role works within a chip-design organization and collaborates closely with design and verification teams to ensure layouts meet electrical and fabrication requirements.
Experience Level

Responsibilities
Primary duties include implementing PIC layouts, verifying layout correctness, and improving layout automation and flows.
- Design and implement photonic integrated circuit (PIC) layouts.
- Develop or use script-based layout tools and automation.
- Perform layout verification: layout vs. schematic (LVS) and design rule checking (DRC).
- Collaborate with design and verification teams to meet specifications and performance targets.
- Contribute to development and refinement of layout methodologies and flows.

- Practical experience with photonic IC layout and layout flows.
- Proficiency with Cadence layout tools.
- Familiarity with Electronic Design Automation (EDA) tools and layout verification processes (LVS, DRC).
- Strong attention to detail and proven problem-solving ability.
- Effective collaborator who can work in a fast-paced engineering environment.
- Nice-to-have: experience creating or using script-based layout automation (e.g., Python, SKILL or similar).
Education Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field plus 5+ years of related experience; or Master's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field plus 3+ years of related experience.
