Silicon Hardware Engineering Intern, Graduate

Role Summary

Intel is hiring graduate-level interns to work on silicon hardware engineering projects across architecture, circuit design, verification, validation, and physical design for processors, GPUs, SoCs and related platforms. Interns will contribute to real design, test, and analysis work while learning from experienced engineers.

This is an on-site internship with placements at multiple U.S. Intel locations (primary: Hillsboro, OR). Start dates target Spring and Summer 2027; year-long internship or co-op candidates may be considered.

Experience Level

Entry-level / Internship. Candidates should have at least 3 months of relevant technical experience gained via coursework, projects, research, internships, or similar activities.

Responsibilities

Work on meaningful silicon engineering tasks and collaborate with cross-functional teams. Typical responsibilities include:

  • Contribute to silicon architecture, circuit design, logic, layout, physical design, verification, validation, and debug.
  • Design, build, test, and analyze technologies for processors, GPUs, SoCs, photonics, and validation systems.
  • Use scripting, data analysis, automation, and hardware validation methods to solve technical problems.
  • Collaborate with silicon, product, and manufacturing teams to integrate and validate designs.
  • Document results, participate in design reviews, and iterate on implementations under mentor guidance.

Requirements

  • At least 3 months of relevant technical experience through coursework, academic projects, research, internships, co-ops, student organizations, or similar activities.
  • Experience or interest in design, architecture, programming, scripting, data analysis, automation, modeling, simulation, validation, or debugging.
  • Hands-on coursework, research, projects, or internship experience related to silicon engineering tasks.
  • Strong problem-solving, written and verbal communication, and ability to work in team-based environments.
  • Must be available to start in Spring or Summer 2027 (year-long internship/co-op options may be considered).
  • On-site presence required; this posting is not available in the state of Colorado.
  • This position is not eligible for employment-based visa/immigration sponsorship.

Education Requirements

Currently pursuing a Master’s degree or PhD in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Physics, or a related STEM field. GPA of 3.0 or higher preferred. The posting allows equivalent experience gained via coursework, academic projects, research, internships, co-ops, student organizations, or other relevant technical experiences.
