Silicon Hardware Engineering - Intern (Bachelor’s)
Role Summary
Internship role on Intel silicon hardware teams working on architecture, design, verification, validation, and debug for processors, GPUs, SoCs, photonics, and related platforms. You will execute meaningful engineering tasks, use scripting and data analysis, and collaborate with cross-functional teams.
This posting is for internships starting Spring and Summer 2027; year-long internship or co-op candidates will also be considered. The role requires on-site presence.
Experience Level
Entry-level / Internship. Candidates should have at least 3 months of relevant technical experience gained through coursework, academic projects, research, internships, co-ops, or student organizations.
Responsibilities
Contribute to silicon hardware projects under mentorship; responsibilities vary by assignment and may include design, verification, and validation tasks.
- Participate in silicon architecture, circuit design, logic, layout, physical design, verification, validation, and debug activities.
- Design, build, test, and analyze technologies for processors, GPUs, SoCs, photonics, or validation systems.
- Use scripting, data analysis, automation, modeling, or simulation to diagnose and solve technical problems.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams across silicon, product, and manufacturing.
- Document findings, run experiments, and support debug and validation efforts.

Minimum technical expectations and preferred skills for initial consideration.
- Must-have: At least 3 months of relevant technical experience from coursework, projects, research, internships, co-ops, or student organizations.
- Must-have: Demonstrated ability or interest in programming, scripting, data analysis, automation, modeling, simulation, validation, or debugging.
- Must-have: Ability to work in team-based environments and communicate effectively.
- Must-have: Availability to start during the stated internship period and to work on-site.
- Must-have: This position is not eligible for employment-based visa sponsorship; applicants must be authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship.
- Nice-to-have: Hands-on coursework, research, projects, or prior internship experience directly related to silicon design, verification, or validation.
- Nice-to-have: Interest or experience in design/architecture, physical design, DFT, formal verification, product failure analysis, or SoC logic design.
- Nice-to-have: Strong problem-solving skills and collaboration experience.
Education Requirements
Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Physics, or a related STEM field. Equivalent practical experience through coursework, academic projects, research, internships, or co-ops is acceptable for consideration. GPA of 3.0 or higher is preferred.
