Role Overview

The role of the Silicon Design Engineer at AMD focuses on researching, designing, developing, and testing electronic components and systems for semiconductor manufacturing. This position requires knowledge of electronic theory and involves defining architecture design, logic design, and system simulation for ASIC development.

Position Summary

As a Silicon Design Engineer, you will contribute to the development of complex integrated circuits and manage all aspects of the process flow, from high-level designs to synthesis, place and route, and considerations of timing and power usage. You will need to problem-solve with moderate scope and analyze data while selecting the appropriate methods according to company guidelines.

Experience Level

This role requires candidates to have at least one year of experience in a similar engineering position or related field. Graduate-level coursework, research, or relevant internship experience can substitute for direct experience.

Main Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and test electronic systems for semiconductor manufacturing.
  • Perform ASIC development tasks including architecture and logic design.
  • Contribute to schematic and layout developments of integrated circuits.
  • Analyze and verify designs using various methodologies and tools.
  • Utilize knowledge of engineering principles in product implementation.

Required Skills

  • Experience creating test scripts in Python, C, or C++.
  • Proficient in debugging SerDes IP and using Verilog, System Verilog, or VHDL.
  • Familiarity with EDA or CAD tools and ASIC design workflows.
  • Understanding of x86-64, CPU, and GPU architecture.
  • Experience with deep submicron digital ASIC physical design.

Education Requirements

A Master’s degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or Electronics Engineering is required for this position.
