Silicon Design Engineer

Role Summary

Join AMD's I/O IP team to design host controller IP for next-generation high-speed I/O (up to 40 Gb/s). The role focuses on RTL implementation, functional correctness, and reusable IP development across product lines.

The position involves contributing technical decisions, resolving complex design problems, and mentoring junior engineers within an IP design team operating in a hybrid Hsinchu/Taipei environment.

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include design, implementation, verification, and technical leadership for high-speed host controller IP.

  • Design and develop host controller IP based on next-generation I/O architecture requirements.
  • Implement RTL for IP blocks using Verilog HDL.
  • Ensure functional correctness and reuse across different product lines.
  • Troubleshoot and solve complex technical problems; propose effective solutions.
  • Make technical decisions and contribute to architecture and design improvements.
  • Coach and mentor junior engineers.

Requirements

Required skills and preferred experience for successful performance in this role.

  • Must-have: Strong Verilog RTL design experience for large digital IPs.
  • Must-have: Proven ability to deliver functionally correct, reusable IP components and meet project milestones.
  • Must-have: Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently.
  • Nice-to-have: Good knowledge of USB 3, USB4, or Thunderbolt.
  • Nice-to-have: Familiarity with PCIe or AMBA protocols.
  • Nice-to-have: Experience with AI-assisted design flows.
  • Nice-to-have: Experience planning and scheduling complex design tasks.

Education Requirements

Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field. The posting specifies a minimum of 9 years of experience with a Master’s degree or 11 years of experience with a Bachelor’s degree.
