Silicon Design Engineer 2

Role Summary

Responsible for micro-architecting, coding, documenting and debugging RTL for AMD's Infinity Data Fabric with focus on timing, area, power and functional correctness. The role works with architects, hardware and firmware teams and is located in Iasi, Romania.

Responsibilities

Deliver RTL features from micro-architecture through implementation and fix issues uncovered during verification and timing closure.

  • Collaborate with architects, hardware and firmware engineers to specify new features.
  • Micro-architect, document, estimate effort, and review feature implementations with RTL leads and verification teams.
  • Write and maintain RTL code to meet functional, timing, area and power targets.
  • Debug and fix RTL bugs and address timing, area and power issues.
  • Analyze coverage and identify gaps in the verification environment.

  • Practical experience with digital circuits and ability to synthesize small circuitry.
  • Experience writing and debugging RTL; strong proficiency with Verilog; VHDL experience is desirable.
  • Good understanding of microprocessor/microcontroller operation and interfacing to memories and I/O devices.
  • Proficient in debugging firmware and RTL using simulation tools.
  • Strong analytical/problem-solving skills and ability to work across distributed teams and time zones.
  • Nice-to-have: knowledge of cache coherency protocols.
  • Nice-to-have: scripting experience (Tcl, Perl, Python) and familiarity with Linux command-line tools (awk, sed, vim, regex).
  • Nice-to-have: exposure to common EDA tools (Synopsys, Cadence, Mentor Graphics, Xilinx).

Education Requirements

Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Engineering or Electrical Engineering.
