Job Title

Service NPI Systems Engineer

Role Summary

Develop and optimize optical metrology technologies and support deployment of first-in-fab metrology tools. Work within cross-functional teams (software, hardware, applications) to define specifications, validate system performance, and produce procedures and training for field engineers.

Role includes hands-on lab work, on-site installation and tool matching, and up to 20% international travel.

Experience Level

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include system alignment, optimization, validation, experimental design, and communication of results to internal and field teams.

  • Align, optimize, and validate complex optical metrology systems.
  • Develop operational methods and procedures to improve tool performance.
  • Design and execute experiments to characterize, troubleshoot, and improve systems.
  • Create technical presentations and documentation for internal teams and customers.
  • Specify requirements and communicate implementation needs to cross-functional engineering groups.
  • Support on-site installation, initial tool matching, and handover to local engineering teams.
  • Generate training materials and procedures for field support.
  • Travel internationally as required (up to ~20%).

Requirements

Must-have technical skills, hands-on experience, and team/collaboration capabilities. Education requirements are listed separately.

  • 2–3 years experience with complex optical systems or hardware development.
  • Experience with laser systems, including mid-IR sources and homodyne detection instrumentation.
  • Experience integrating precision optical and optomechanical components.
  • Proficiency in data analysis and scripting (Python, MATLAB, or similar).
  • Strong analytical skills for systematic troubleshooting of prototype and production systems.
  • Hands-on experience with prototype systems in a laboratory environment.
  • Familiarity with semiconductor capital equipment, optical processing, metrology, or inspection products.
  • Good interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams.
  • Experience with new product development and providing field support for complex tools.
  • Willingness to travel internationally (up to 20%).

Education Requirements

Ph.D. in Engineering or Sciences with a focus on optical physics.
