Server SoC Security Architect
QualcommJob Title
Server SoC Security Architect
Role Summary
Design and architect SoC-level security for server/datacenter platforms. The role defines platform trust models, root-of-trust strategies, secure debug/manageability features, and cryptographic services while collaborating across hardware, firmware, software, validation, and product teams.
Experience Level
Mid-level. Candidates typically have several years of hardware/SoC security and architecture experience; specific minimums vary by degree (see Education Requirements).
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include defining and validating SoC/system security architecture and aligning cross-functional teams.
- Define SoC and system-level security architecture, including trust boundaries, isolation domains, and security invariants.
- Architect platform root-of-trust and chain-of-trust for boot, runtime, attestation, and updates.
- Design security architecture for cryptographic services, key lifecycle management, identity, provisioning, and anti-rollback.
- Create threat models and derive product security requirements mapped to architectural controls and validation strategies.
- Drive cross-functional security alignment across hardware, firmware, software, validation, and product teams.
- Monitor standards, security trends, and threats to proactively harden platform architecture.
- Ensure architecture supports secure operations across lifecycle states and customer deployment models.
- Produce architecture specifications, security analyses, and design guidance for engineering and leadership audiences.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and experience for the role.
- Proven experience with SoC security architecture and implementation for data center or hyperscale platforms.
- Experience with foundational SoC security capabilities: secure boot, attestation, hardware/firmware provenance, isolation and access control, and key management.
- Strong threat modeling and security requirements development skills.
- Ability to define cryptographic service architectures and key lifecycle management.
- Experience driving cross-functional engineering alignment and producing clear technical specifications and analyses.
- Understanding of data center system architecture and product lifecycle security (manufacturing, deployment, service/repair, decommissioning).
- Experience with heterogeneous multi-chiplet or large-scale SoC platforms.
- Strong communication and technical writing skills.
- Nice-to-have: engagement with standards bodies, prior delivery of security architecture in hyperscale/cloud products, and experience in data center hardware architecture and design.
Education Requirements
Minimum qualifications as listed: Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field plus 6+ years of relevant engineering experience; OR Master's degree in those fields plus 5+ years; OR PhD in those fields plus 4+ years. Preferred: Master's in Computer Science/Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field.
