Job Title

Senior VLSI RTL Design Engineer – High-Performance Cores

Role Summary

Design and deliver high-performance, energy-efficient cache and fabric RTL for AMD's next-generation CPU cores. You will translate microarchitectural intent into synthesizable RTL and work with cross-functional teams to meet timing, power, and manufacturability targets.

Experience Level

Senior. The posting specifies a minimum of 3+ years of hardware design experience.

Responsibilities

The role focuses on RTL implementation, cross-team collaboration, and delivering silicon-ready designs.

  • Develop synthesizable RTL for cache and interconnect/fabric modules, primarily in Verilog HDL.
  • Translate CPU/cache microarchitecture and specifications into RTL implementations.
  • Work with physical design to meet timing, power, and area constraints; perform timing closure optimizations.
  • Collaborate with verification teams to support functional, performance, and DFT verification activities.
  • Ensure manufacturability and portability across process nodes and global teams.
  • Participate in design reviews, roadmap planning, and silicon bring-up support toward tapeout.

Requirements

Key must-have and nice-to-have qualifications for immediate success in the role.

  • Must-have: 3+ years of hardware/ASIC RTL design experience.
  • Must-have: Strong RTL implementation skills with Verilog HDL; experience writing clear, synthesizable code.
  • Must-have: Practical experience with timing optimization and meeting timing closure goals.
  • Must-have: Proven ability to collaborate across architects, physical design, and verification teams.
  • Nice-to-have: Experience with CPU/cache or fabric/interconnect design and microarchitecture.
  • Nice-to-have: Familiarity with SystemVerilog, UVM, synthesis flows, and ASIC tapeout processes.
  • Nice-to-have: Low-power design experience and knowledge of physical implementation constraints.

Education Requirements

Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a closely related technical field (BS/MS in ECE/CS). The posting specifies these degrees as required.
