Job Title
Senior VLSI Physical Design Integration Engineer
Role Summary
Senior engineer responsible for physical design integration of networking products, collaborating with front-end, back-end, and verification teams across the USA, Israel, and India. The role covers integration from RTL through netlist and physical implementation to tapeout.
This position focuses on ensuring connectivity, timing, power integrity, and manufacturability while improving automation and flows.
Experience Level
Senior level — minimum 5+ years of experience in VLSI physical design implementation on advanced process nodes (16nm, 7nm, 5nm, or 3nm).
Responsibilities
Key day-to-day responsibilities include integration, verification, and flow improvement.
- Run integration flows to build RTL, perform connectivity checks, and assemble logical units.
- Perform linting and debug RTL- and netlist-level issues.
- Collaborate with front-end teams to resolve connectivity issues and implement design fixes for physically viable netlists.
- Manage project-level cell libraries to ensure compatibility across workflows.
- Run synthesis flows and optimize for area, power, and timing.
- Execute physical implementation flows from netlist to GDS, including P&R, STA, LVS/DRC, and netlist checks.
- Perform formal equivalence validation and IR drop/power integrity analysis.
- Develop and enhance automation, streamline workflows, and document best practices.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and practical experience.
- Minimum 5+ years in VLSI physical design implementation on 16nm/7nm/5nm/3nm nodes.
- Proven power user experience with P&R, timing analysis, physical verification, and IR drop tools from Synopsys (ICC2, DC, PT, STAR, ICV), Cadence (Genus, Innovus, Tempus), or other major EDA vendors.
- Strong analytical and debugging skills for RTL, netlist, and physical issues.
- Experience running synthesis, STA, LVS/DRC, and formal equivalence checks.
- Ability to develop and debug design flows and CAD tool flows.
- Good teamwork and communication skills for cross-site collaboration.
- Nice-to-have: proficiency with Python, Perl, Tcl, and Make for automation and scripting.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's (BSEE) or Master’s (MSEE) in Electrical Engineering or a closely related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
