Senior VLSI CAD Software Engineer

Role Summary

Join a small team building high-capacity, high-performance VLSI CAD and visualization tools used to design NVIDIA products. This is a full‑lifecycle engineering role covering architecture, implementation, testing, and support within an agile development environment.

The role focuses on advancing next‑generation design tools and workflows and requires close collaboration with internal engineering teams worldwide.

Experience Level

Senior — minimum 10 years of experience in CAD/EDA tool development.

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include developing and maintaining CAD software, designing algorithms, and working with stakeholders to define and deliver tooling.

  • Design, implement, review, test, and support high-capacity, high-performance chip design and visualization tools.
  • Develop algorithms and models for physical VLSI design automation.
  • Write well-designed, high-quality code for desktop engineering applications.
  • Participate in Agile practices, code reviews, and CI/CD workflows.
  • Collaborate with internal engineering customers to gather requirements and define new tools and workflows.
  • Contribute to software architecture and system design decisions.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and experience.

  • Minimum 10 years of experience in CAD/EDA tool development.
  • Deep knowledge of CAD data structures and algorithms, especially for physical VLSI design automation.
  • Expert programming skills in C++, Java, or C#; familiarity with modern language features (e.g., C++20, Java 21).
  • Proficiency with development tooling: git, IDEs (IDEA, Visual Studio, CLion), unit test frameworks, and CI/CD systems.
  • Strong software system architecture and object‑oriented design skills.
  • Experience using AI-based code assistant tools.
  • Ability to adapt to evolving team scope and technical challenges.

Nice-to-have:

  • Experience building large-scale design automation tools.
  • Performance analysis and tuning experience.
  • Familiarity with at least one physical CAD data model.
  • Interest in VLSI chip design concepts and EDA tools.

Education Requirements

MS in Computer Science or Computer Engineering, or BS in Computer Science or Computer Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
