Job Title
Senior VLSI CAD Engineer
Role Summary
Join NVIDIA's custom RAM design team to develop and maintain CAD infrastructure and flows that enable circuit designers and compilers for memory macros. The role focuses on building scalable tooling, regression infrastructure, and release processes that directly impact silicon delivered to place-and-route and production teams.
Experience Level
Senior β typically requires a minimum of 5+ years of CAD flow development and VLSI design methodology experience.
Responsibilities
Deliver and maintain CAD flows, infrastructure, and tooling for RAM compiler and circuit design workflows; own release and integration activities and support cross-team collaboration.
- Build flows and methodology around vendor EDA tools to streamline circuit design and verification.
- Bring up compiler workspaces for new projects and synchronize internal flows and tools across multi-project environments.
- Develop and maintain regression suites; optimize regression infrastructure for throughput and turnaround time.
- Manage release process for custom RAM circuit macros delivered to PNR teams, including collateral gatekeeping and release coordination.
- Integrate RAM compilers into PNR flows and triage/resolve related build and runtime issues.
- Maintain versioned records of toolchains and infrastructure for each design release.
- Own the web front-end used by circuit designers to access simulation data and design collateral; ensure clear presentation of data.
- Collaborate with circuit design, layout, technology, and 3rd-party EDA vendor teams across geographies and time zones.
Requirements
Key technical and professional requirements. "Must-have" items first, followed by desirable skills.
-
Must-have: Minimum of 5+ years of CAD flow development and design methodology in VLSI.
-
Must-have: Strong programming and scripting skills (Bash, TCL, Python, Perl, Makefile).
-
Must-have: Experience developing, testing, and deploying EDA tools and infrastructure.
-
Must-have: Proven ability to own releases, versioning, and cross-team coordination.
-
Must-have: Self-starter with strong communication and collaboration across distributed teams.
-
Nice-to-have: Experience with industry-standard EDA tools (HSPICE, PrimeSim-XA, ESP, NanoTime/PrimeTime, Totem/SeaHawk).
-
Nice-to-have: Knowledge of DC/Transient, cross-corner PVT, and Monte Carlo simulations.
-
Nice-to-have: Prior VLSI, ASIC, or EDA vendor engagement experience; experience evaluating CAD products and driving vendor tools to meet requirements.
-
Nice-to-have: Experience using AI tools to improve design productivity.
Education Requirements
MS in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering or equivalent practical experience.
