Job Title
Senior VLSI CAD Engineer
Role Summary
Member of NVIDIA's custom RAM design team responsible for building and maintaining CAD infrastructure, compilers, and flows used in memory macro design and integration. The role focuses on tooling, methodology, regressions, and seamless integration of RAM compilers into place-and-route flows.
Work collaboratively with circuit design, layout, technology teams, and third-party EDA vendors to ensure reliable, scalable design flows that enable rapid iteration and high-quality silicon delivery.
Experience Level
Senior β minimum 5+ years of experience in CAD flow development and design methodology for VLSI/ASIC designs.
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include developing, maintaining, and operating the CAD flows and tools that support RAM/compiler design and delivery.
- Build and maintain flows and methodology around vendor EDA tools to streamline circuit design and verification workflows.
- Bring up compiler workspaces for new projects and keep internal flows and tools synchronized across multi-project environments.
- Develop and maintain regression suites to validate designs and optimize regression infrastructure for turnaround time and coverage.
- Own the release process for custom RAM circuit macros delivered to Place-and-Route teams, including collateral gating and release coordination.
- Integrate RAM compilers into PNR flows, triage and resolve compiler-related bugs, and ensure downstream usability.
- Maintain versioned records of tools and infrastructure for each design release.
- Own and maintain the web front-end used by designers to access simulation data and design collateral.
- Collaborate across geographies with circuit design, layout, technology, and EDA vendor teams.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills, tools experience, and personal attributes.
- 5+ years of hands-on experience developing CAD flows and design methodology for VLSI/ASIC projects.
- Strong scripting and programming skills (examples: Bash, TCL, Python, Perl, Makefile).
- Experience developing, testing, and deploying EDA tools and automation for design teams.
- Proven ability to own release processes, manage collateral, and coordinate across teams.
- Self-starter with strong collaboration skills and a focus on continuous improvement.
- Nice-to-have: experience with industry EDA tools (HSPICE, PrimeSim-XA, ESP, NanoTime/PrimeTime, Totem/SeaHawk), DC/Transient and Monte Carlo simulation workflows, prior VLSI/ASIC/EDA domain experience, experience driving vendor evaluations, and use of AI tools to improve productivity.
Education Requirements
MS in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent practical experience. Posting also accepts equivalent experience in lieu of the degree.
