Job Title

Senior VLSI CAD Engineer

Role Summary

Join NVIDIA's custom RAM design team to develop CAD infrastructure and flows that enable memory circuit design and integration for advanced AI and accelerated-computing chips. The role focuses on building, validating, and maintaining EDA-based flows, regression suites, and release processes that directly affect silicon delivery.

Experience Level

Senior β€” typically 5+ years of relevant VLSI CAD, flow development, or design methodology experience.

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include developing and maintaining CAD flows, ensuring quality of memory compiler deliveries, and supporting downstream integration and tooling.

  • Build and maintain flows and methodology around vendor EDA tools to streamline circuit design and verification.
  • Bring up compiler workspaces for new projects and synchronize internal flows across multiple projects.
  • Develop and maintain regression suites; optimize infrastructure for thoroughness and turnaround time.
  • Manage release process for custom RAM circuit macros delivered to place-and-route teams, including versioning and collateral gatekeeping.
  • Integrate RAM compilers into PNR flows and triage compiler-related build or functional issues.
  • Maintain versioned records of tools and infrastructure for each design release.
  • Own the web front-end that provides designers access to simulation data and design collateral.
  • Collaborate with circuit design, layout, technology teams, and EDA vendors across geographies.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and experience; nice-to-have items are listed separately.

  • Minimum of 5+ years experience in CAD flow development and design methodology for VLSI.
  • Strong scripting/programming skills (Bash, TCL, Python, Perl, Makefile).
  • Experience in development, testing, and deployment of EDA tools and automation.
  • Proven ability to develop and optimize regression suites and release processes.
  • Effective communicator and self-starter who can coordinate across teams and vendors.

Nice-to-have:

  • Experience with HSPICE, PrimeSim-XA, ESP, NanoTime/PrimeTime, Totem/SeaHawk or similar EDA tools.
  • Knowledge of DC/transient analysis, cross-corner PVT, and Monte Carlo simulations.
  • Prior VLSI, ASIC, or EDA industry experience and vendor evaluation/management experience.
  • Experience applying AI tools to improve CAD productivity.

Education Requirements

MS in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent practical experience (the posting explicitly allows equivalent experience in place of the degree).
