Senior Virtual Platform Functional Modeling Engineer

Role Summary

Deliver and evolve a distributed, multi-node virtual platform for scalable pre-silicon system validation across CPU, GPU, AI, and adaptive platforms. The role sits at the intersection of architecture, firmware, software, emulation, and validation and focuses on framework, infrastructure, and methodology to enable early software development, firmware bring-up, and platform validation.

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include building and integrating models, orchestration, and validation infrastructure for distributed virtual platforms.

  • Collaborate with firmware, software, validation, and emulation teams to expand virtual platform capabilities and run complex workloads.
  • Define and implement inter-node communication behavior: message ordering, flow control, protocol state machines, and error handling.
  • Design and improve simulation orchestration services: job scheduling, synchronization, logging, replay, and deterministic execution.
  • Develop model interfaces, adapters, communication frameworks, and platform assembly methodologies for scalable integration.
  • Create validation strategies, regression suites, debug infrastructure, trace capabilities, and CI/CD automation to ensure model quality.
  • Evaluate commercial, open-source, and internal technologies to improve modeling productivity and scalability.
  • Contribute technical documentation, training, and engagement with industry or open-source partners.

  • Must-have: Strong C++ software development skills relevant to modeling, systems software, firmware infrastructure, or platform-level environments.
  • Must-have: Experience in functional modeling, virtual platform development, simulation frameworks, or pre-silicon modeling environments.
  • Must-have: Practical system-level understanding (SoC/platform architecture, memory hierarchies, coherency, CPU/GPU compute) and strong analytical/debugging skills.
  • Must-have: Ability to collaborate across firmware, software, architecture, and validation teams and drive initiatives from concept to implementation.
  • Nice-to-have: Familiarity with SystemC/TLM-2.0, Arm Fast Models, Simics, QEMU, or similar virtual platform frameworks.
  • Nice-to-have: Knowledge of interconnects and protocols such as PCIe, CXL, AXI, CHI, ACE, UCIe, HBM, DDR or related coherency fabrics.
  • Nice-to-have: Experience with virtual platform validation techniques (protocol testing, fault injection, hardware/software co-validation) and cloud/distributed compute infrastructures.
  • Nice-to-have: Experience using AI-assisted development tools for designing, debugging, optimizing, or maintaining complex frameworks and models.

Education Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field preferred; Master's degree preferred. (Degrees are listed as preferred rather than strictly required.)
