Job Title

Senior Validation and Qualification Engineer

Role Summary

Join NVIDIA's Validation and Qualification group in Roskilde to define and execute qualification strategies for LinkX interconnect products, including passive/active copper cables, optical transceivers, and emerging silicon photonics technologies.

The role leads qualification planning, coordinates cross-functional execution across HW/ASIC/package/mechanical/process/reliability teams and contract manufacturers, and operates optical lab stations to validate product readiness.

Experience Level

Senior-level role. The posting specifies 8+ years of relevant experience in electro-optics validation or optical system engineering.

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include defining and running qualification programs, analyzing optical data, and managing lab capabilities.

  • Define qualification plans and test scopes for ECRs, new product introductions (NPI), and build changes by consolidating inputs from chip, electronics, optics, mechanical, and process domains.
  • Lead qualification kick-offs and communicate objectives, scope, risks, and status to engineering, program management, and partners.
  • Collaborate with HW, ASIC, package, mechanical, process, reliability, product engineering, and CM partners to align requirements and execute qualifications.
  • Review test data and qualification reports; analyze optical parameters such as RX/TX power, OMA, ER, eye diagrams, BER, OSNR, wavelength, insertion loss, and return loss to identify risks.
  • Specify, build, and expand optical lab stations; select equipment (VOA, OSA, optical power meters, fibers, cleaning tools, chillers) and set up production-ready test stations.
  • Serve as Optics point-of-contact for the Validation and Qualification group: lead root-cause investigations and coordinate communications between R&D, product engineering, CMs, and reliability teams.
  • Manage multiple parallel qualifications under tight schedules while maintaining technical rigor.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and experience for the role.

  • 8+ years of experience in electro-optics module validation, optical system engineering, or equivalent practical experience in optical parameter analysis.
  • Strong working knowledge of high-speed optical transceivers, silicon photonics, and optical link performance (modulation formats, link budget, BER/eye analysis).
  • Multidisciplinary technical perspective across ASIC/package, electronics, mechanical, process, and optics domains to develop comprehensive qualification plans.
  • Proven experience defining qualification or test plans for product changes (ECR, NPI, second source, build change) and reviewing resulting data and reports.
  • Hands-on experience with optical lab instruments and the ability to assemble, troubleshoot, and validate lab setups (VOA, spectrum analyzers, VNAs, optical power meters, OSAs).
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; ability to draw data-driven conclusions and present clear technical recommendations.
  • Data analysis and scripting skills (Python, JMP, or similar) for large-scale optical parametric data review.

Nice-to-have:

  • Hands-on experience with silicon photonics-based transceivers or co-packaged optics (CPO).
  • Familiarity with industry specifications (for example OSFP MSA, GR-468, GR-326, GR-1435).
  • Background in qualification, reliability, or system validation of optical or interconnect products at network equipment or transceiver companies.

Education Requirements

M.Sc. in Electro-Optics or Physics preferred; B.Sc. acceptable if supported by equivalent practical experience. The posting explicitly allows equivalent experience in lieu of the listed degrees.
