Job Title

Senior Thermal Validation Engineer

Role Summary

Define and execute silicon power and thermal validation for Intel products. Drive power and thermal optimization, validate thermal solutions, develop validation methodologies and infrastructure, and collaborate with architecture, design, verification, firmware/software, platform, and manufacturing teams to meet product specifications.

Experience Level

Senior-level role. Typical experience: 6+ years in silicon power and thermal validation with a Bachelor’s degree (or 4+ years with a Master’s, 2+ years with a PhD). Also expects 3+ years of post-silicon validation and 3+ years performing thermal characterization and workload-based thermal analysis.

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include planning and executing validation activities, characterizing thermal behavior, and working cross-functionally to resolve issues.

  • Develop and execute power and thermal validation plans.
  • Perform silicon characterization across voltage, process, and temperature corners.
  • Drive power and thermal optimization through detailed workload analysis.
  • Validate thermal solutions and thermal management features.
  • Conduct root cause analysis and design experiments to diagnose thermal issues.
  • Develop validation methodologies and infrastructure (performance monitors, behavioral checkers, coverage and test frameworks).
  • Execute failure analysis and troubleshoot silicon and platform issues.
  • Partner with architecture, design, verification, firmware/software, platform, and manufacturing teams.

Requirements

Must-have experience and technical skills (degrees and fields summarized separately in Education Requirements).

  • 6+ years of silicon power and thermal validation experience (see Education Requirements for degree-based guidance).
  • 3+ years of post-silicon validation and debug of CPU, SoC, or server-class products.
  • 3+ years performing thermal characterization, thermal data collection, and workload-based thermal analysis.
  • Experience developing or maintaining validation tools, automation, or infrastructure for silicon validation and characterization.
  • Experience analyzing thermal telemetry, sensor data, and characterization results to identify and debug issues.
  • Experience with failure analysis and silicon troubleshooting.

Nice-to-have:

  • Experience with server, data center, or high-performance computing products.
  • Experience with thermal solution validation, thermal management technologies, or thermal algorithm characterization.
  • Experience developing data analysis, reporting, or validation automation using scripting or programming languages.

Education Requirements

Required: Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Thermal Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or a related technical field. Preferred: Master’s or PhD in those fields. Experience guidance from the posting: 6+ years with a Bachelor’s, 4+ years with a Master’s, or 2+ years with a PhD. (No specific certifications listed.)
