Senior Test Engineer
Role Summary
The Senior Test Engineer designs, implements, and maintains automated hardware diagnostic and production test solutions for high-density semiconductor systems. The role works on a cross-functional test engineering team and collaborates with contract manufacturers and production engineers to improve test coverage, reliability, and automation.
Position reports to the Director of Test Engineering. Primary work location is Cadence office and partner contract manufacturer sites in Guadalajara, Mexico.

Responsibilities
The engineer will develop and maintain automated test systems, diagnostics, and test infrastructure to support production and development test flows.
- Collaborate with contract manufacturers (CMs) and production engineers to set up and support automated system testing and board test cells.
- Extend and improve the company automated test platform, including adding a GUI for test execution and result review.
- Design, maintain, and extend modular functional diagnostics and APIs to test hardware.
- Automate Linux workstation setup and test environment provisioning.
- Develop board-level functional tests and test sequences derived from rough requirements; drive solutions through ambiguity to production-ready implementations.
- Work cross-functionally with design, production, and external partners to elevate production test processes and metrics.

- Excellent communication and documentation skills.
- Proficient in Python scripting; strong Unix/Linux and shell scripting skills.
- Ability to read board schematics and design board functional tests.
- Practical experience testing ASICs and working with production test systems.
- Familiarity with SERDES, FPGAs, DDR3/4, I2C, SPI, Ethernet switches/devices, Optics, PCIe, and board management controllers.
- Self-starter with strong problem-solving skills and an automation-first mindset.
- Nice-to-have: experience with liquid-cooled systems, high-density optical/network test processes (including InfiniBand and RoCE v2), and testing high-density press-fit backplanes.
- Nice-to-have: Linux admin-level tools, development tools, and scripting for test environments.
Education Requirements
BA/BS (or equivalent) in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical field; or equivalent practical experience.
