Senior Test Development Engineer - Job Description

Job Title

Senior Test Development Engineer

Role Summary

Responsible for ATE test solution development for new power IC products, including test hardware and software design, test program coding and debugging, correlation, characterization, and production release. Works with IC designers, production teams, and subcontractors to qualify and release products into production.

Position is based in the Penang test development/NPI team and requires hands-on debugging, test flow optimization, and cross-site coordination.

Experience Level

Senior β€” 3–10 years of power management IC test development or equivalent practical experience.

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities focus on designing test circuitry, developing automated test software, and supporting product release.

  • Design component-level circuits for precision parametric measurement and dynamic signal analysis for analog and mixed-signal ICs.
  • Create, code, debug, and optimize automated test system software and ATE test programs.
  • Participate in all phases of product development: design-for-testability, IOS, test hardware/software design, hands-on debugging, correlation, characterization and production release.
  • Develop and qualify ATE test solutions and define qualification criteria for NPD/NPI.
  • Collaborate with IC developers, production teams, and external subcontractors for test validation and worldwide support.

Requirements

Must-have skills and practical expectations.

  • 3–10 years of experience in power management IC testing with a focus on NPD/NPI test development.
  • Experience with ATE platforms such as Teradyne ETS-88, ETS-364, J750, and Changchuan CTA8280F/CTA8290D.
  • Solid understanding of test engineering concepts and ability to apply them to complex assignments.
  • Willingness and ability to be located in the Penang, Malaysia office and to travel to China and other global subcontractors.
  • Good written and oral communication skills in English and Chinese; strong teamwork and interpersonal skills.
  • Nice-to-have: experience with Cadence schematic tools and PCB layout.

Education Requirements

Bachelor's degree or above in Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Physics, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
