Senior Test Design Architect

Role Summary

The Senior Test Design Architect defines and drives system-level validation strategies for next-generation hardware platforms. This role works on hardware architecture and systems engineering teams to ensure robustness, performance, and scalability across AI, graphics, data center, and automotive products.

You will collaborate with silicon, board, firmware, and software teams to create test methodologies, automation, and diagnostics that improve product quality and reduce time-to-market.

Experience Level

Senior — typically requires 8+ years of relevant experience in hardware or system test engineering.

Responsibilities

Key responsibilities include architecting validation approaches, building automation, and guiding cross-functional debug and test efforts.

  • Architect end-to-end system validation strategies for new hardware platforms.
  • Define test coverage, validation methodologies, and acceptance criteria.
  • Collaborate with hardware, software, qualification, and QA teams to align on product requirements and test plans.
  • Lead development of automation frameworks and diagnostics tools for scalable, repeatable testing.
  • Analyze test results to identify root causes and guide debug and validation improvements.
  • Provide technical leadership and mentor cross-disciplinary teams; represent system test in architecture and design reviews.

Requirements

Must-have qualifications and skills.

  • 8+ years of experience in hardware/system test engineering in semiconductor, computing, or high-performance systems industries.
  • Deep understanding of system architecture, including CPUs, GPUs, memory subsystems, I/O, and power delivery.
  • Proven experience developing and executing validation plans for complex hardware systems.
  • Strong debugging skills and hands-on experience with hardware test equipment (oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, etc.).
  • Familiarity with firmware, BIOS, and low-level software stack interactions.
  • Proficient in scripting and automation (Python, Perl, Bash, or similar).

Nice-to-have:

  • Excellent communication and leadership skills; experience coordinating validation across global, cross-functional teams.

Education Requirements

Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field.
