Senior Technical Support Engineer

Role Summary

Provide technical support to customers using Ansys electronics and electromagnetics simulation tools, troubleshooting simulation setups and workflows and communicating solutions to customers and internal teams. Work feeds product quality and roadmap through defect reports, verification, and field testing.

This role is based at a Synopsys U.S. office (Boulder, CO listed) and requires on-site presence or willingness to relocate to a U.S. office.

Responsibilities

Primary day-to-day responsibilities include customer-facing technical support, validation of fixes, and knowledge capture.

  • Provide technical support for AEDT, HFSS, HFSS 3D Layout, SIwave, Q3D, and AEDT Circuit.
  • Troubleshoot simulation issues related to signal integrity, power integrity, crosstalk, impedance, and eye-diagram analysis.
  • Work directly with customers and channel partners to reproduce issues, recommend workflows, and deliver practical solutions.
  • Document product issues, submit defect reports, verify development fixes, and participate in field testing of releases.
  • Evaluate new software releases using real customer use cases to support release readiness.
  • Create and contribute to internal knowledge base articles, technical documentation, and enablement content.
  • Share customer feedback and workflow insights with product development and field teams to improve quality and usability.

Requirements

Core technical skills and authorizations required to perform the role.

  • Must have:
    • Hands-on experience with Ansys HFSS, SIwave, or comparable CAE/EDA simulation tools.
    • Working knowledge of signal integrity, power integrity, crosstalk, impedance simulations, and eye-diagram analysis.
    • Understanding of circuit-level and timing analysis for signal integrity and relevant compliance considerations.
    • Experience with package, PCB, or connector design workflows.
    • Familiarity with microwave and antenna fundamentals (S-parameters, wave propagation, scattering).
    • Strong troubleshooting, written communication, and customer-facing skills.
    • Ability to travel domestically up to 10% as needed.
    • U.S. work authorization required; U.S. citizenship preferred where required by customers or export control.
  • Nice to have:
    • Experience evaluating releases, participating in field testing, and verifying development fixes.
    • Familiarity with AEDT Circuit and Q3D workflows.

Education Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Physics, or a related technical field is required; a Master's degree is listed as a plus.
