Job Title
Senior Technical Staff Engineer 6 IC Analog Design
Role Summary
Lead architect and designer for performance-critical analog and mixed-signal IP blocks within next-generation edge-computing SoCs. The role partners with system and foundry teams to convert product requirements into circuit specifications, supervise layout and validation, and ensure silicon meets performance, power, area, and reliability targets.
Experience Level
Senior level; requires extensive industry experience. The posting specifies 12+ years of relevant analog IC design experience.
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include:
- Architect and design high-performance analog/mixed-signal blocks such as DACs and ADCs.
- Own schematic design and simulation at IP and system level to meet targets for performance, area, power, and reliability.
- Supervise circuit layout efforts: floor planning, device matching, routing, shielding, and ESD strategies in collaboration with layout engineers.
- Translate top-level system requirements into block-level budgets and circuit specifications with the system design team.
- Lead validation and debug: lab bring-up, bench measurements, simulation correlation, and root-cause analysis of silicon issues.
- Coordinate with foundry technology teams to ensure correct use of PDKs/models and to address device reliability constraints.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and experience:
- 12+ years designing high-speed and precision analog circuits, including DACs, ADCs, bandgaps, high-accuracy bias blocks, and comparators.
- Hands-on experience with both sigma-delta and SAR ADC architectures.
- Proficiency with Cadence Virtuoso and Spectre; strong MATLAB skills for analysis and modeling.
- Practical lab experience for testing and debugging analog IP and silicon bring-up.
- Scripting and automation experience (Skill, Python, Tcl, etc.).
- Solid understanding of circuit theory, noise, linearity, device non-idealities, parasitics, and on-chip matching techniques.
- Strong analytical, documentation, presentation, and cross-functional communication skills; able to work across sites and teams.
Education Requirements
Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering (BSEE) minimum; Master of Science in Electrical Engineering (MSEE) or higher preferred. Degrees expected from an accredited engineering school.
