Job Title

Senior Technical Staff Engineer - Analog Design

Role Summary

Member of Microchip's Timing and Communication Group (TCG) providing technical leadership and architectural direction for advanced analog and mixed-signal IP used in timing solutions. The role combines hands-on transistor-level design with system-level architecture, silicon validation, and mentoring of design teams.

Experience Level

Senior-level. Requires 10+ years of industry experience in analog and mixed-signal IC design.

Responsibilities

Drive architecture, lead designs, and enable first-pass silicon success across mixed-signal projects.

  • Define architecture, specifications, and methodologies for analog IP (PLLs/DLLs, ADCs/DACs, filters, high-speed I/O, etc.).
  • Drive top-level mixed-signal system architecture and influence long-term IP direction and product roadmaps.
  • Provide senior technical guidance through design reviews, modeling strategy, simulation methodology, and silicon bring-up.
  • Mentor junior and mid-level designers and influence design trade-offs and verification approaches.
  • Lead transistor-level design and advanced simulations across process corners and operating conditions.
  • Develop and review behavioral/Verilog-A models to support mixed-signal SoC simulation.
  • Guide silicon validation, characterization, test planning, and system-level laboratory evaluation.
  • Collaborate with architects, digital/mixed-signal designers, layout teams, product engineers, and multi-site engineering groups to ensure robust integration.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and experience:

  • 10+ years of industry experience in analog and mixed-signal IC design.
  • Proven experience designing high-speed analog circuits such as PLLs/DLLs, ADCs/DACs, filters, and high-speed I/O.
  • Strong fundamentals in device physics, circuit theory, and layout-aware design.
  • Extensive experience with Cadence IC design tools and standard analog design flows.
  • Hands-on scripting and automation experience (Skill, Python, Perl, Tcl).
  • Strong communication skills and demonstrated ability to work effectively in multi-site engineering teams.

Nice-to-have:

  • Proficiency in Verilog-A for analog behavioral modeling.
  • Experience with silicon bring-up, debug, and lab characterization.
  • Expertise in mixed-signal system-level design and architecture.
  • Exposure to MEMS analog interface circuits.

Education Requirements

Required: Masterrs degree or Doctorate in Electrical Engineering or a closely related field (analog/mixed-signal disciplines).

Travel expectation: 0%–25%.
