Senior Technical Program Manager
Role Summary
Lead program management for Lightmatter's silicon hardware engineering team across design through production, covering silicon development, packaging, assembly, and test. Coordinate cross-functional engineering teams to plan, schedule, and deliver chip and interconnect products.
Work with engineering leadership, executives, vendors, and customers to set milestones, manage technical risks, and ensure quality throughout the product lifecycle.
Experience Level
Senior — 8+ years of experience in silicon design, tapeout, and product qualification.
Responsibilities
Coordinate planning and execution for silicon, package, and systems development. Key responsibilities include:
- Organize planning, scheduling, and day-to-day execution for silicon, package, and systems projects.
- Collaborate with engineering leads to estimate and prioritize tasks to maintain quality on realistic schedules.
- Develop and lead project plans (scope, schedule, budget) and align with partners and business needs.
- Manage project schedules and quality; identify issues, risks, and mitigation plans; communicate them to stakeholders.
- Facilitate recurring project meetings and lifecycle checkpoint activities.
- Communicate project plans, key dates, and status to management and stakeholders.
- Provide hands-on project management, cross-functional coordination, and internal/external communications.
- Own release schedules and milestones in a fast-paced environment.
- Engage with vendors and customers on external program activities.
Requirements
Must-have skills and experience:
- 8+ years of experience with silicon design, tapeout, and product qualification.
- Experience with product qualification lifecycle (EVT, DVT, PVT).
- Prior semiconductor engineering experience (chip, systems, or product).
- Proven experience influencing decisions and leading teams in a matrix environment.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
- Proven ability to identify and implement process improvements.
- Expert user of program management tools (MS Project, Asana, Smartsheet, or similar).
- Excellent communication and technical presentation skills.
- Capacity to comply with U.S. export control laws.
Preferred:
- Knowledge of photonic structures, optical communication, and laser solutions.
- Experience setting up project management initiatives in a startup or new business unit.
Education Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in a technical field required.
