Senior Tape-Out Engineer

Role Summary

The Tape-Out Engineer is the final technical checkpoint before integrated circuit designs are released for fabrication. This role coordinates tape-out activities, verifies design and manufacturing readiness, and works with design, process engineering, and program teams to resolve issues.

Embedded in the product delivery chain, the role focuses on data integrity, foundry compliance, and timely delivery of design data.

Experience Level

Responsibilities

Core responsibilities for delivering correct, manufacturable design data:

• Coordinate and execute the tape-out process to deliver design data to the foundry on schedule.
• Verify design integrity by reviewing databases, documentation, and outputs; identify and correct discrepancies.
• Ensure all deliverables meet foundry and manufacturing requirements.
• Work cross-functionally with design teams, technologists, program managers, and process engineering to resolve technical issues.
• Maintain detailed records of tape-out procedures, revisions, and outcomes to support traceability and process improvement.
• Support critical tape-outs outside normal hours when required.

Requirements

• Must-have: Practical experience with physical design tools and flows (examples: Cadence, Synopsys) and familiarity with semiconductor manufacturing workflows.
• Must-have: Strong attention to detail, problem-solving skills, and ability to meet tight deadlines.
• Must-have: Effective English communication for cross-functional collaboration.
• Must-have: Willingness to work flexible hours to support critical tape-outs.
• Nice-to-have: Prior tape-out coordination experience in a production/foundry environment and exposure to foundry-specific deliverable requirements.

Education Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field is required; a Master’s degree is preferred. (No certifications or equivalent-experience language specified.)
