Job Title

Senior Systems Software Engineer, Data Center Platform Enablement

Role Summary

Work on bring-up, integration, validation and troubleshooting for GPU rack compute-tray platforms used in data centers. The role partners with hardware architects, firmware and software teams, ODMs, and manufacturing to ensure systems meet design and deployment requirements.

Experience Level

Senior — requires demonstrated individual-contributor experience; role expects senior-level responsibility and leadership on platform bring-up and validation.

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include system bring-up, validation, and cross-team coordination.

  • Bring up and debug early server prototypes in datacenter system labs (power-on, initialization, hardware/firmware interactions).
  • Integrate and validate CPU, GPU, memory, NIC, PCIe, NVMe, cooling and related components at platform level.
  • Review schematics and board designs; provide hardware feedback to influence system design.
  • Use simulation and emulation to validate early designs and accelerate development.
  • Support factory and manufacturing flows: firmware updates, diagnostics, BOM change signoff, and process optimization.
  • Drive root-cause analysis for bring-up failures and collaborate with partners, ODMs, and customers on issue resolution.
  • Develop diagnostic tools and automation to qualify system software and firmware stacks.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and practical experience.

  • Strong experience in computer system and firmware architecture for server products; experience with CPLD/FPGA design and RTL.
  • Proven delivery of enterprise server products from definition through deployment.
  • Deep understanding of low-level interfaces and platform boot: SBIOS, BMC, OS interactions and buses such as I2C, SPI, PCIe, JTAG; PCIe enumeration and high-speed I/O at platform level.
  • Hands-on debugging in embedded Linux environments and strong debugging methodology.
  • Proficiency in C/C++ and scripting with bash and Python.
  • Experience using simulation (e.g., QEMU) and emulation tools to validate early designs; familiarity with using AI tools to accelerate design and debug.
  • Experience working with hardware teams, ODMs, and vendors to introduce and support server platforms.

Nice-to-have:

  • Experience with early design and power-on debug of server platforms.
  • Proven leadership handling challenging issues in fast-paced environments.
  • Experience developing automated diagnostic test tools and test frameworks for platform validation.

Education Requirements

Bachelor’s degree or higher in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field — or equivalent practical experience. The role expects ~8+ years of relevant experience as a senior individual contributor.
