Job Title

Senior Systems Engineer

Role Summary

Develop, model, and analyze RF communication systems for mobile and connected applications. Translate customer and platform use cases into system architectures, performance targets, and component-level requirements, and guide integration of RF front-end and power-management solutions.

This position works with Systems Architects and cross-functional engineering teams on 5G Advanced, emerging 6G concepts, and adjacent connected-device applications. This position is not eligible for visa sponsorship.

Experience Level

Senior - typically requires 5+ years of relevant RF/system engineering experience (the posting specifies 5+ years; advanced degrees may affect experience expectations).

Responsibilities

Primary system-level duties and collaboration expectations:

  • Develop RF system models, simulations, and level plans for transmit and receive signal chains.
  • Translate customer, platform, and system requirements into component-level and functional-block requirements.
  • Analyze end-to-end system performance: power, efficiency, linearity, noise, sensitivity, dynamic range, thermal behavior, and power consumption.
  • Use MATLAB, SystemVue, Excel, and equivalent tools to model RF components in cellular and connected-device architectures.
  • Perform architecture and design tradeoff analyses across performance, size, power, integration complexity, cost, risk, and schedule.
  • Leverage AI tools (e.g., ChatGPT, Claude) where appropriate for programming and system analysis.
  • Partner with systems architects on advanced technologies such as MIMO, carrier aggregation, envelope tracking, RF power management, and antenna tuning.
  • Guide integration of RF functional blocks (PAs, LNAs, filters, switches, antenna-tuning, power-management) into complete RF front-end modules.
  • Correlate simulation results with laboratory measurements and product characterization data.
  • Support technical design reviews, architecture documentation, and system-level decision-making throughout the product lifecycle.

Requirements

Must-have qualifications and skills; preferred items listed separately.

  • 5+ years of relevant work experience in RF/system engineering.
  • Practical experience with RF communication systems and system-level modeling, simulation, analysis, or design.
  • Understanding of RF transmit and receive architectures and key performance parameters.
  • Experience with RF simulation/analysis tools such as MATLAB, SystemVue, ADS, or VSS (or equivalent).
  • Ability to analyze complex technical problems and convert results into clear requirements and recommendations.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills and ability to present technical material to diverse audiences.
  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to plan and execute multiple activities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively across engineering disciplines and organizational boundaries.

Nice-to-have:

  • Experience with cellular RF front-end architectures, mobile handset platforms, or connected-device systems.
  • Knowledge of power amplifiers, LNAs, acoustic filters, RF switches, RF power management, envelope tracking, or antenna tuning.
  • Familiarity with MIMO, carrier aggregation, wideband modulation, linearization, or baseband predistortion.
  • Experience using RF laboratory equipment (spectrum analyzers, signal generators, network analyzers, power meters, vector signal analyzers) and correlating lab data with simulations.
  • Familiarity with cellular standards and the evolution from 5G Advanced toward 6G.

Education Requirements

Minimum: Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Physics, Applied Mathematics, or a related technical discipline. Preferred: Master's degree or PhD in the same fields. The posting indicates advanced degrees may reduce the amount of relevant work experience required.
