Senior Systems Engineer

Role Summary

Join the product systems team responsible for defining and validating system-level features for embedded IoT products. The role researches end applications, derives system use-cases and specifications, and ensures product documentation and requirements align with market needs.

This position sits on the Systems team working across product management, hardware and firmware engineering, and documentation to drive product roadmaps and customer-facing content.

Experience Level

Senior-level. The role expects approximately 5+ years of relevant industry experience.

Responsibilities

Primary tasks and ownership areas:

• Research target end applications and identify system-level use cases that drive product requirements.
• Collaborate with Product Management and systems engineering peers to define and prioritize product roadmaps.
• Perform end-application teardown and competitive analysis to inform specifications and part selection.
• Capture and track market and product requirements using a requirements management tool.
• Create and maintain technical content for customer-facing documentation (spec tables, pinouts, register tables).
• Train internal teams on new products and provide technical guidance to stakeholders.
• Mentor less-experienced team members and improve Systems team processes.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and experience:

• 5+ years of industry experience in embedded systems or a related role.
• Strong understanding of embedded microcontroller architectures and features.
• Practical knowledge of embedded application design: requirements analysis, hardware selection, firmware and application development, and validation.
• Basic knowledge of wireless radios and protocols (for example Bluetooth, ZigBee, Wi‑Fi).
• Proficiency with scripting/automation (e.g., Python) to support test, analysis, and documentation tasks.
• Excellent written and verbal communication in English; able to explain technical concepts to varied audiences including senior leaders.
• Experience with AI-powered tools and technologies to improve productivity and analysis.

Nice-to-have / preferred:

• Semiconductor industry experience and familiarity with hardware IP architecture, development, and verification.
• Knowledge of analog or digital IP design processes.
• Experience using lab equipment (oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, signal generators, multimeters).
• Familiarity with content management tools (Heretto), structured documentation (DITA), version control (Git), and requirements tools (Jama, DOORS).

Education Requirements

BSc or MSc in Electrical Engineering (or a related technical field), or equivalent practical experience.
