Senior Systems Architect: HW/SW Solutions

Role Summary

Lead firmware and hardware-software integration for semiconductor products. Manage a team delivering low-level firmware, define enablement software best practices, and coordinate HW/SW IP usage, validation, and debug across programs. Role is based at the Austin (Oakhill) office and includes approximately 5% international travel.

Experience Level

Senior — requires around 5 years of relevant experience in firmware, software development, or related roles.

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include:

• Lead design, development, and testing of low-level firmware for semiconductor products and devices.
• Define and implement best practices for enablement software and firmware development.
• Manage interfaces and workflows between hardware and software teams; establish standard practices for HW/SW collaboration.
• Architect firmware solutions, drive firmware validation, and support IP compatibility and reuse across programs.
• Support hardware and software IP usage, debugging, and system-level validation using lab instruments.
• Mentor team members and coordinate cross-site engineering interactions.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and experience:

• Embedded software development experience.
• Microcontroller programming and architecture knowledge.
• Proficiency in C or C++ programming.
• Experience with debugging tools and firmware validation.
• Familiarity with GitLab and related workflows.
• Experience designing and architecting firmware solutions.
• Knowledge of software development flows and methodologies.
• Experience using oscilloscopes and other lab debug equipment.
• Willingness to travel internationally (~5%).

Education Requirements

Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Computer Engineering, Information Technology, foreign equivalent, or a related field. The posting also specifies five (5) years of relevant work experience.
