Senior System Software Engineer - SoC Power

Role Summary

Join NVIDIA's Tegra system software team to design and implement power management policy and firmware for SoC platforms used in automotive, embedded, and data center products. The role focuses on delivering robust power-performance solutions across hardware and software boundaries with cross-functional teams.

Experience Level

Senior — typically 8+ years developing system-level software and firmware for power optimization in datacenter, embedded, or ARM-based systems.

Responsibilities

Key responsibilities include:

  • Design and implement system-level power management policies and firmware for Tegra SoCs.
  • Develop, validate, and maintain firmware and system software focused on power and performance.
  • Triage, debug, and resolve complex software and platform issues.
  • Collaborate with hardware, firmware, and software teams to define power-management strategies.
  • Create and execute test plans to verify power-management functionality and efficiency.
  • Analyze and address energy consumption and efficiency problems.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and experience:

  • 8+ years building system software/firmware targeting power optimization on datacenter, embedded, or ARM platforms.
  • Proven track record of implementing system software with demonstrable power and performance improvements.
  • Strong proficiency in C/C++ and experience with scripting languages such as Python.
  • Deep knowledge of computer architecture, operating systems, and hardware-software interactions.
  • Excellent debugging and problem-solving skills; attention to detail.
  • Effective collaborator with strong written and verbal communication skills.

Nice-to-have:

  • Experience with performance/power measurement, tools development, and simulation/emulation platforms.
  • Familiarity with DVFS, clock/power gating, clock sequencing, binning, and power/thermal budgeting.
  • Experience tuning performance of complex system software stacks.

Education Requirements

Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field — or equivalent practical experience.
