Senior System Software Engineer, SOC
Role Summary
Join the GPU System Software team to design and deliver system software for new SoC-based GPU platforms, including kernel drivers, firmware interactions, performance and power management.
This role works closely with hardware engineers and global software teams to take SoC platforms from early development through customer products.
Experience Level
Senior; typically 5+ years of significant software development experience.
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include development, integration, and verification of system software for SoC platforms.
- Define, design, implement, and verify system software features for new SoC platforms in collaboration with hardware and firmware teams.
- Develop and maintain kernel drivers and low-level platform code used across products.
- Work on early firmware integration, performance tuning, and power management for SoC platforms.
- Perform system-level bring-up and debugging of complex SoC hardware/software interactions.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams globally to drive features through development to production.
Requirements
Core must-have skills and experience; followed by desirable qualifications.
Must-have:
- 5+ years of substantial software development experience.
- Proficiency in C and C++; strong low-level driver and SOC platform development experience.
- Familiarity with computer system architecture, microprocessor and microcontroller fundamentals.
- Kernel experience on Linux, Android, Chrome OS, or Windows.
- Experience debugging complex SoC systems.
Nice-to-have:
- Background in SOC, AI and GPU computing system architecture.
- Deep understanding of SOC firmware, power management, and performance optimization.
- Experience across platform software, system software, and device software stacks; performance tuning experience.
Education Requirements
BS, MS, or PhD in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field; or equivalent practical experience.
