Job Title

Senior System Software Engineer - Simulation Software

Role Summary

Join the Simulation Software team to accelerate early system software development by providing trusted chip simulation platforms. The role focuses on enabling pre-silicon software bring-up, validation, tooling, and developer workflows for new chip and platform programs.

Experience Level

Senior β€” typically 5+ years of relevant software development experience.

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include driving platform readiness, debugging complex cross-stack issues, and building automation and tooling to scale simulation-based development.

  • Drive early software bring-up on simulation platforms for new chips and platform programs.
  • Verify platform readiness and validate software functionality in pre-silicon environments.
  • Develop scripts, tools, and automation to improve productivity, reliability, and scale.
  • Enable module teams to use simulation platforms for development, debugging, and validation.
  • Debug complex issues spanning software, platform configuration, infrastructure, and simulation interactions.
  • Improve developer experience with better workflows, diagnostics, and tooling.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and experience.

  • 5+ years of relevant software development experience.
  • Strong C/C++ and Python programming skills.
  • Hands-on experience with SystemC, VDK, or similar simulation platforms.
  • Experience with system software bring-up, platform validation, low-level software development, or infrastructure-facing systems engineering.
  • Strong Linux fundamentals, including shell scripting, process/debug tools, and development workflows.
  • Strong debugging and problem-solving skills across software stacks, tools, platform behavior, and system interactions.
  • Experience building developer tools, automation, test infrastructure, or triage workflows focused on improving efficiency.
  • Ability to work across teams and drive technical execution in ambiguous early-development environments.

Nice-to-have:

  • Experience with pre-silicon development (simulation, emulation, FPGA, virtual platforms).
  • Background in boot flows, drivers, firmware, kernel or platform software, or hardware-software interfaces.
  • Familiarity with log analysis, failure triage, regression infrastructure, and validation workflows at scale.
  • Experience enabling other teams via shared tooling and workflows or in silicon bring-up and transition from pre-silicon to silicon validation.

Education Requirements

BS or MS in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field β€” or equivalent practical experience.
