Senior System Software Engineer - GPU and SOC

Role Summary

Work on NVIDIA's GPU and SoC system software to design, implement, debug, and harden kernel-mode drivers and embedded software. The role focuses on platform performance, power efficiency, and robustness across development, emulation, bring-up, and production releases.

You'll collaborate with hardware and software engineers globally and follow devices from design through deployment in datacenter systems, desktops, notebooks, workstations, and consoles.

Experience Level

Senior - typically requires 5+ years of relevant software development experience.

Responsibilities

Accountable for delivering production-quality system software for NVIDIA GPUs and SoCs, with emphasis on kernel-mode behavior, performance, and reliability.

  • Design, implement, and debug changes in the NVIDIA software stack to transition next-generation hardware from development to production.
  • Develop and maintain kernel-mode drivers and embedded system software focused on performance, power, and robustness.
  • Participate in emulation, hardware bring-up, and product hardening activities.
  • Trace and resolve complex system-level interactions across software and hardware components.
  • Collaborate and communicate with cross-functional and global teams throughout the product lifecycle.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and experience:

  • 5+ years of relevant software development experience.
  • Strong C/C++ programming skills and demonstrated independent coding experience.
  • Familiarity with computer system architecture and microprocessor/microcontroller fundamentals (caches, buses, memory controllers, DMA).
  • Strong operating systems fundamentals with kernel experience on Linux or Windows.
  • Experience solving problems for sophisticated systems deployed at scale.

Nice-to-have:

  • System-level (software and hardware) debugging expertise.
  • Experience with Windows driver models (WDDM or MCDM).
  • Familiarity with system-level security concepts and system software architectures.

Education Requirements

BS or MS in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
