Senior System Software Engineer - Boot SW Engineering
Role Summary
Member of the Boot SW development team responsible for designing and productizing the boot software stack for NVIDIA SoCs used in automotive, embedded, and server products. The role focuses on CPU/memory initialization, resource management, drivers, platform configuration, and boot security.
Work closely with hardware, architecture, platform, and software teams to define system requirements, ensure compatibility, and meet safety and security standards.
Experience Level
Senior β requires 5+ years of software development experience (embedded or system software preferred).
Responsibilities
The role owns design, implementation, and productization of boot software components and ensures secure, compatible, and performant platform bring-up.
- Design boot software architecture to support multiple NVIDIA SoC platforms and OS boot paths.
- Develop and productize code for CPU/memory initialization, resource management, drivers, and platform configuration.
- Collaborate with hardware, architecture, and platform teams to define system requirements, configurations, and boot security.
- Maintain forward and backward compatibility in the bootloader while optimizing for security and performance.
- Contribute to compliance with ISO26262 (functional safety) and ISO21434 (automotive security) for current and future Tegra SoCs.
- Improve development workflows using AI agents and automation frameworks.
Requirements
Must-have skills and experience required to perform the role; nice-to-have items follow.
- Minimum 5+ years of software development experience in embedded or system software.
- Strong C programming skills and low-level driver development experience.
- Deep understanding of operating systems, processor ISA (familiarity with ARMv8), and system-level debugging.
- Knowledge of assemblers, binary formats (ELF, DWARF) and ABI concepts.
- Experience developing boot software or BSP for embedded, mobile, automotive, or networking products; board bring-up experience.
- Good communication skills and a proactive, self-driven approach to technical challenges.
- Interest in applying AI tools and agentic workflows to automate development processes.
Nice-to-have:
- Proven bootloader development and bare-metal programming experience.
- Experience applying AI tools to automate software development workflows.
- Experience with functional safety development for automotive applications.
Education Requirements
B.Tech or M.Tech in Electronics or Computer Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
