Senior System Software Engineer, Automotive Performance

Role Summary

Design and optimize low-level system software for NVIDIA automotive performance platforms, focusing on boot and runtime performance for safety-critical systems. Work on profiling, benchmarking, and performance improvements across software and hardware stacks.

The role partners with Hardware Architecture, DriveOS, Power, Test, and ADAS/AV teams to validate targets and deliver measurable performance gains.

Experience Level

Senior β€” requires extensive experience (minimum 12 years) in systems or software performance engineering.

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include performance analysis, benchmarking, and cross-team integration.

  • Optimize system software and runtime for NVIDIA automotive platforms running Safe RTOS.
  • Develop, run, and maintain microbenchmarks and industry-standard benchmarks across IPs to track boot and runtime targets.
  • Benchmark hypervisors and minimize virtualization overhead on ARM platforms.
  • Build and enhance automotive profiling tools, including features that use AI assistance.
  • Collaborate with hardware, DriveOS, Power, Test, and ADAS/AV teams to identify and resolve performance bottlenecks.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and experience; nice-to-have items listed separately.

  • Minimum 12 years of experience in systems or software performance engineering.
  • Strong C/C++ programming skills and hands-on systems-level development experience.
  • Proficiency with Linux and QNX operating systems.
  • Proven experience with benchmarking, boot-time optimization, compiler optimization, and runtime performance tuning.
  • Knowledge of hypervisors, virtualization concepts, and overhead analysis on ARM systems.
  • Experience using profiling utilities and performance-analysis tooling to improve system software efficiency.
  • Nice-to-have: Android familiarity and AI/ML experience applied to performance tooling or analysis.

Education Requirements

Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
