Senior System Performance Engineer
NVIDIAJob Title
Senior System Performance Engineer
Role Summary
Senior System Performance Engineer on the Silicon Solutions Team responsible for productizing performance controllers across pre-silicon planning, bring-up, tuning, validation, and production.
The role collaborates with architecture, design, firmware, and software teams to characterize silicon behavior, maximize performance and performance-per-watt within power/thermal limits, and apply data-driven methods to accelerate tuning and debugging.
Experience Level
Senior - requires at least 5+ years of relevant experience in silicon validation, system-level design, and power/performance optimization.
Responsibilities
Key responsibilities include technical leadership across characterization, tuning, validation, and production stages.
- Lead productization of performance controllers from pre-silicon planning through bring-up, tuning, validation, and production.
- Define controller requirements and features in collaboration with architecture, design, firmware, and software teams.
- Characterize and tune controller behavior across workloads, operating conditions, silicon variation, and power/thermal constraints to maximize performance and perf/Watt.
- Correlate silicon behavior with pre-silicon expectations; debug and resolve complex bring-up and closed-loop performance issues involving HW, firmware, software, power delivery, and thermals.
- Apply AI/ML and data-driven analysis to HW telemetry and characterization data to detect anomalies, accelerate tuning, and improve validation efficiency.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and experience; separate list of preferred qualifications follows.
- Minimum 5+ years experience in silicon validation, system-level design, and power/performance optimization.
- Proven hands-on experience with silicon bring-up, validation, and productization.
- Strong understanding of silicon power/performance, technology node impacts, and hardware-software interactions at the system level.
- Hardware architectural orientation and strong hardware debugging/problem-solving skills.
- Strong data analysis and logical reasoning skills and familiarity with HW lab environments.
- Ability to collaborate with global, cross-functional teams.
Nice-to-have:
- Extensive experience with DVFS, voltage/frequency management, HW telemetries, performance throttling, and silicon protection mechanisms on advanced ASIC/SoC products.
- Experience correlating controller behavior across simulation, silicon, firmware, and system-level measurements and converting findings into production tuning.
- Experience applying AI/ML to engineering workflows such as tuning, analytics, anomaly detection, or debug automation.
- History of contributions that improved controller behavior, silicon performance, power efficiency, or thermal management.
Education Requirements
B. Tech or M. Tech in Electronics Engineering stream.
