Job Title
Senior System Level Test Engineer
Role Summary
Member of the System Level Test team responsible for system performance characterization, validation and production screening of Snapdragon SoC-based products. Work spans early silicon bring-up through post-silicon validation, hardware/software integration, and collaboration with software, hardware and production teams.
The role focuses on system-level test development, debugging, test plan execution, and performance characterization across power, thermal and interface subsystems.
Experience Level
Senior — typical experience 4–8 years in system/bench test, hardware-software interaction testing, or related roles.
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include developing and executing system-level tests, diagnosing system failures, and supporting production test readiness.
- Lead silicon bring-up and post-silicon validation activities for SoC-based modules and board-level products.
- Develop and execute test plans and test cases for Android-based devices and evaluate system performance under varying voltage, process and thermal conditions.
- Characterize processors, PCIe, graphics, memory, thermal and power performance; run system-level benchmarks and stress tests.
- Perform hardware/software interaction tests and collaborate with software teams to evaluate integrated system behavior.
- Debug and triage system-level failures using Android debugging tools, JTAG (e.g., Lauterbach/Trace32) and other lab equipment; read and interpret hardware schematics and layout files.
- Support production test development, including Gauge R&R, shop-floor support and coordination with OSATs to implement effective production screens.
- Work with cross-functional teams to translate specifications into test plans and ensure test coverage for NPI and HVM.
Requirements
Must-have skills and experience required on day one, followed by concise nice-to-have items.
Must-have:
- 4–8 years hands-on experience in system/SW/bench test or HW–SW interaction testing, preferably in mobile devices or microprocessor/ASIC environments.
- Proven experience developing and executing test cases for Android-based devices and strong working knowledge of Android architecture, boot process, kernel, BSP and Android performance.
- Hands-on debug and triage experience with Android debugging tools and/or JTAG (Lauterbach/Trace32).
- Experience characterizing processors, PCIe, graphics, memory, thermal and power performance of ASICs or SoCs.
- Experience with production testing environments, Gauge R&R, shop-floor support and interaction with OSATs.
- Ability to analyze specifications, develop test plans and execute system-level validation; strong analytical and logical reasoning skills.
- Practical ability to read and interpret hardware schematics and layout files; hands-on PCB/module debugging experience.
Nice-to-have:
- Experience in Module / SiP / board product testing for NPI or HVM and server product experience.
- Familiarity with characterizing high-speed interfaces (HDMI, Wi‑Fi, PCIe, SATA, HSUSB) and mixed-signal circuits (ADC, DAC, PLL, codecs).
- Experience using oscilloscopes, power supplies, wireless network simulators and other system-level measurement equipment.
- Programming or scripting experience: C#, .NET, C/C++, Perl, Python.
- Experience with source control systems such as Perforce or Git.
- Knowledge of system-level performance benchmarks and stress tests (e.g., Dhrystone, AnTuTu, Monkey Test).
- Self-driven, adaptable, and able to ramp up quickly on test development and validation tasks.
Education Requirements
Degree required: Bachelor's, Master’s or PhD in Computer Science, Electrical/Electronics Engineering, Engineering or a related technical field. Posting describes multiple acceptable combinations of degree and experience (e.g., Bachelor's + 2+ years, Master’s + 1+ year, or PhD). Related technical degrees or equivalent practical experience also acceptable as indicated in the posting.
