Senior Switch Software Architect
Role Summary
Senior software architect focused on Ethernet Switch ASIC platforms. Lead definition of switching software stacks, Linux kernel networking integration, and embedded software architectures optimized for AI/ML and high-performance data center workloads.
Work closely with chip, firmware, hardware platform, systems, validation, and product teams; represent the company in open-source and standards forums and lead customer technical engagements.
Experience Level
Senior β requires approximately 8+ years in embedded networking software development with 5+ years serving as a Software Architect accountable for major modules.
Responsibilities
Key responsibilities include technical leadership, architecture definition, and cross-team collaboration to deliver next-generation switch platforms.
- Research networking features, protocols, hardware/software capabilities, and open-source drivers to design improved networking platforms.
- Define robust embedded software architectures for next-generation switch platforms optimized for AI/ML workloads.
- Lead R&D and validation teams with technical guidance, support, and reviews of build and test plans.
- Evaluate innovations, initiatives, and software partners aligned with technology roadmaps and business needs.
- Collaborate with Chip Build, Firmware, Hardware Platforms, System teams, product marketing, and program managers.
- Lead technical engagements with key customers and external forums (standards, open-source, conferences).
- Drive proofs-of-concept, patents, and technical publications to advance platform capabilities.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills, experience, and behaviors required for the role.
- 8+ years overall in embedded networking software development; 5+ years as a Software Architect or equivalent accountability for major modules.
- Expert-level knowledge of Ethernet/IP, network topologies, and networking features across data center, telco, or edge networks.
- Strong foundation in embedded software development and operating system fundamentals (kernel-level networking experience preferred).
- Proven track record of researching and integrating new technologies into practical products.
- Demonstrated project leadership, ownership, and accountability across large organizations.
- Clear verbal and written English communication and ability to build consensus.
- Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills; able to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
Nice-to-have:
- Familiarity with Switch ASIC hardware, vendor SDKs, and network operating systems (NOS).
- Deep understanding of the Linux kernel and networking subsystems.
- Experience prototyping ideas and producing initial implementations or PoCs.
Education Requirements
B.Sc. or M.Sc. in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or Electrical Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
