Job Title
Senior Staff / Staff Design Engineer
Role Summary
Technical contributor on a digital design team developing highly integrated mixed-signal SoCs for low-power MCU and wireless products. Responsible for digital block architecture, RTL implementation, SoC integration, verification, and related documentation.
The role works cross-functionally with verification, firmware, analog/RF, and system teams to deliver validated SoC features and customer-facing documentation.
Experience Level
Senior-level. The posting does not state specific years of experience but expects an experienced engineer capable of independent technical contribution on SoC projects.
Responsibilities
Key responsibilities include block design, SoC integration, verification, and documentation:
- Define block requirements and architecture; produce block specifications with cross-functional input.
- Implement designs in RTL following quality guidelines and appropriate partitioning.
- Integrate digital blocks and IP into SoC infrastructure (bus matrix, memory interfaces, clocking, power and reset management).
- Integrate mixed-signal and RF IP and support mixed-signal modeling and co-simulation.
- Perform block-level and SoC-level verification using directed, random, and assertion-based methods; contribute to UVM-based verification where applicable.
- Develop embedded firmware to support SoC integration and validation efforts.
- Prepare and review design and verification documentation; contribute to customer-facing reference manuals and datasheets.
Requirements
Core technical skills required and additional desirable skills.
-
Must-have: Detailed experience in digital block architecture and RTL coding; strong verification skills including block-level verification and SoC integration verification.
-
Must-have: Experience with SoC infrastructure (bus/memory/clock/power/reset) and integration of mixed-signal or RF IP.
-
Must-have: Familiarity with verification methodologies (logic simulation, testbench development, assertions); scripting experience (Python, Perl, Tcl).
-
Nice-to-have: UVM experience, SoC performance verification, mixed-signal co-simulation experience.
-
Nice-to-have: Low-power implementation techniques, Cortex-M based system knowledge, embedded firmware/software coding.
-
Nice-to-have: Design-for-test skills (scan, ATPG, MBIST) and knowledge of AMBA or other bus protocols.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills; ability to perform reviews and produce customer-facing documentation.
Education Requirements
MS in Electrical Engineering is specified; equivalent practical experience is acceptable according to the posting.
