Senior Staff Software QA Engineer (FPGA Tool)
Role Summary
Senior QA engineer responsible for validating FPGA software tools and associated foundation IP. Work with design, software and product stakeholders to define and execute verification plans that ensure functional correctness, performance, and usability of FPGA tool flows.
Role is based in Penang and focuses on simulation, compilation, timing/power analysis, and integration testing across the FPGA toolchain and IP catalog.
Experience Level
Senior β 12+ years of experience in software/IP testing and quality assurance, with demonstrated ability to lead verification efforts and mentor junior engineers.
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include planning and executing validation across FPGA tool flows and IP, tracking coverage and defects, and collaborating with stakeholders to close issues.
- Validate FPGA design flows (compilation, simulation, power, timing, bitstream) integrated with FPGA IP.
- Develop, maintain and enhance test plans for FPGA IP blocks and software verification tools.
- Write and execute functional and performance test cases for IP blocks and tool features.
- Validate the FPGA IP catalog and related user interfaces for correctness and usability.
- Analyze coverage metrics and refine test scenarios to meet coverage goals.
- Review feature requirements, collaborate with stakeholders, and track verification status.
- Provide technical guidance and code reviews to junior engineers.

Must-have: 12+ years in software/IP testing and QA with hands-on experience writing and executing test cases for FPGA IP and tools.

Must-have: Proficient in Verilog, SystemVerilog and VHDL.

Must-have: Experience with simulation/verification tools such as VCS and Questa and with power/timing analysis and IBIS workflows.

Must-have: Ability to work independently, drive tasks to completion, and mentor junior staff.

Nice-to-have: Knowledge of UVM-based verification methodologies.

Nice-to-have: Familiarity with FPGA architecture and silicon features (SERDES, DDR).

Nice-to-have: Experience with GUI testing frameworks such as Squish.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electronic Engineering, Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
