Job Title

Senior Staff SOC DFX RTL Design Engineer

Role Summary

Member of the Radeon Technologies Group front-end design/integration team responsible for design-for-test/debug (DFX) features and integration to achieve first-pass silicon success for client SoCs. Work closely with architecture, IP, CAD, physical design, verification, and product engineering teams.

Experience Level

Senior-level. Role expects an experienced engineer with substantial DFX/DFT and RTL design expertise.

Responsibilities

Main responsibilities include:

  • Plan and implement DFX features (JTAG, scan, boundary scan, debug features, memory BIST/repair, logic BIST).
  • Integrate DFT/DFX logic into RTL and netlist: insertion, synthesis, equivalency checking, timing analysis, constraint definition.
  • Collaborate with CAD, IP, verification, physical design, and product teams on requirements, power scenarios, and quality.
  • Support DFX verification and provide pattern debug and bring-up support during first-silicon qualification and failure analysis.
  • Participate in DFX initiatives, process development, and cross-functional technical support.
  • Work collaboratively across sites and time zones and contribute in medium-to-large engineering teams.

Requirements

Key skills and experience required or strongly preferred.

  • Hands-on RTL design using Verilog/SystemVerilog and experience debugging RTL and gate-level simulations.
  • Experience with simulation tools (VCS or equivalent) and waveform debugging.
  • Scripting proficiency (Python, Perl, Shell, TCL); familiarity with C/C++ is beneficial.
  • Experience with DFT/DFX tools and flows (insertion, ATPG, MBIST/repair workflows) and general EDA toolchains (synthesis, equivalency checking, static timing analysis).
  • Experience providing DFT feature bring-up and pattern debug support during production engineering and silicon bring-up.
  • Strong analytical and communication skills; able to collaborate across geographically distributed teams.
  • Nice-to-have: hands-on experience with Mentor testKompress, Synopsys Tetramax/DFTMAX, low-power DFX techniques, and recent scan/MBIST architectures; background in computing/graphics.

Education Requirements

Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a closely related technical field.
