Senior Staff R&D Software Engineer, Functional Verification Tool (VCS)
Role Summary
Develop and architect core software components for Synopsys's functional verification tool (VCS), with emphasis on coverage algorithms and performance. Work within the Digital and Mixed Signal Verification team and collaborate with local and global engineering teams to deliver production-quality EDA software.
Experience Level
Senior — typically 8–10 years of relevant EDA/software engineering experience; experience in verification domain preferred.
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include:
- Design, implement, and troubleshoot core algorithms and components in the coverage domain of the functional verification tool.
- Contribute to software architecture and high-quality C/C++ code for production EDA tools.
- Collaborate with local and global teams to define requirements, integrate changes, and meet project milestones.
- Perform performance analysis and debugging on Unix/Linux platforms using developer tools.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and experience:
- Strong hands-on C/C++ software development experience.
- Deep understanding of design patterns, data structures, algorithms, and programming concepts.
- Experience with Unix/Linux development and debugging tools (for example gdb, Valgrind).
- 8–10 years of relevant EDA software experience; verification-domain experience is a plus.
- Effective communicator, strong analytical and problem-solving skills, and ability to work in cross-functional teams.
Nice-to-have:
- Prior experience working on coverage or functional verification tooling.
- Experience influencing software architecture for large-scale developer tools.
