Senior Staff Product Definition Engineer, Ethernet PHY
Role Summary
Define and drive the product roadmap and market introduction of next-generation Ethernet PHY products. Serve as the technical bridge between customers, product management, marketing, system architecture, and R&D to translate market needs into differentiated semiconductor products.

Responsibilities
Lead product definition, roadmap planning, and cross-functional alignment to ensure successful development and market adoption.
- Own product roadmap development and multi-generation portfolio planning.
- Collect, analyze, and prioritize Customer Requirement Specifications (CRS) and translate them into Product Requirement Specifications (PRS) with R&D.
- Lead customer engagements, workshops, and technical discussions to drive design-ins and qualification.
- Coordinate across Marketing, Applications, Design, Systems Engineering, Project Management, Quality, and Operations for product execution.
- Perform competitive analysis, market assessment, and technology benchmarking to identify differentiation and investment areas.
- Drive technical trade-off analyses across architecture, performance, cost, reliability, safety, security, and scalability.
- Provide technical leadership during product introduction, customer qualification, and launch activities.
- Represent the company at industry forums and technical conferences as needed.
Requirements
Must-have technical background and proven leadership in semiconductor product definition for networking/PHY solutions.
- Proven experience in product definition, systems engineering, technical marketing, application engineering, or product management within the semiconductor industry.
- Deep knowledge of Ethernet networking standards, protocols, and architectures, including IEEE 802.3, SPE, TSN, MACsec, and Ethernet PHYs.
- Hands-on experience with system modeling tools such as Matlab/Simulink or comparable tools.
- Strong analytical skills with experience evaluating technical and business trade-offs (architecture, performance, cost, reliability, security).
- Track record of leading cross-functional teams and influencing stakeholders globally; excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Customer-facing experience and ability to drive design-in and qualification activities.
- Typically 12+ years of relevant industry experience (senior technical leadership roles).
- Nice-to-have: experience with safety/security requirements and industrial or automotive networking markets.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's degree or higher in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Communications Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
