Senior Staff Product Definition Engineer

Role Summary

Lead definition of device- and subsystem-level specifications for mixed-signal integrated circuits within the Memory Interface Architecture team. Collaborate across engineering, standards organizations, and industry partners to define and maintain specifications and represent the company at standards meetings.

Onsite position based in San Jose, CA working with interdisciplinary design, documentation, and standards teams to influence product and industry direction.

Experience Level

Senior — typically 10+ years of direct ASIC/IC design and architecture experience.

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include specification creation, standards engagement, and cross-team collaboration:

• Create and maintain device-level and subsystem specification documents for mixed-signal ICs.
• Review and assess proposals from standards organizations (e.g., JEDEC) and coordinate internal positions.
• Prepare and deliver presentations to external audiences and standards bodies to communicate technical positions and proposals.
• Propose new device definitions or changes to existing industry standards when appropriate.
• Work with technical writers to produce accurate documentation and review deliverables for correctness.
• Participate in standards organization meetings and represent the company’s technical and product positions.

Requirements

• Must-have: Demonstrated experience architecting mixed-signal designs and writing device-level or subsystem specifications.
• Must-have: Fluency in ASIC design methodology for both analog and digital domains.
• Must-have: Experience in the DRAM memory industry and familiarity with memory interface concepts.
• Must-have: Experience working in or with JEDEC and ability to represent the company in standards forums.
• Must-have: Strong oral and written communication skills and public speaking experience.
• Familiarity with documentation tools such as Adobe FrameMaker and diagram tools (Visio/Illustrator).
• Proven ability to prepare clear technical presentations for external audiences.

Education Requirements

Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent with 10+ years of relevant experience; alternatively, Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent with 15+ years of relevant experience. Equivalent practical experience may be acceptable.
