Senior Staff Process Engineer - Diffusion
Role Summary
Lead diffusion process engineering activities in a semiconductor wafer fab, focusing on continuous improvement projects, sustainment of manufacturing processes, and escalation management for process issues. Work within the Process Engineering team to improve wafer output, yield, cost and overall process capability.
This role is delivery-focused and involves close coordination with manufacturing, metrology and cross-functional teams to ensure robust, capable and compliant processes.
Experience Level
Senior β circa 5+ years' semiconductor industry experience as a Process Engineer, with practical exposure to diffusion / furnacing technologies preferred.
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include leading improvement and sustainment work across diffusion and related processes.
- Lead technical improvement projects targeting yield, cost, throughput and manufacturability.
- Support new product and platform introductions through process development activities.
- Sustain and improve mechanical and electrical yields to meet departmental targets.
- Monitor and improve process capability (Cpk) and coordinate R&R studies on metrology equipment.
- Ensure processes are risk-assessed and maintain accurate FMEA records; update and rescore FMEAs as required.
- Generate and maintain accurate Wafer Fab Operator Instructions and process documentation.
- Review, track and report process performance in line with factory policy and quality standards.
- Manage escalated sustainment issues and collaborate across teams to implement corrective actions.
Requirements
Must-have skills and experience for the role.
- Circa 5+ years' semiconductor industry experience as a Process Engineer (diffusion/furnacing experience desirable).
- Project management experience with a track record of delivering process improvements.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to take initiative.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work effectively across teams.
- Good priority and time management; able to perform in high-pressure environments.
- Competent with MS Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word).
- Able to work a shift pattern of 4 days on / 4 days off, 12 hours per day.
Nice-to-have:
- Specific experience in diffusion furnacing technologies.
Education Requirements
HND or degree in a relevant STEM discipline (degree preferred).
