The role ensures on-time delivery of RTL-to-GDSII implementation for complex SoCs, aligns execution with global PD teams, and develops team capability and best practices.

Experience Level

Level: Senior. Requires extensive experience leading physical design teams and project-level ASIC/SoC implementation.

Responsibilities

The manager is responsible for project delivery, technical leadership, and team development across the physical implementation flow.

  • Lead physical design execution for blocks, subsystems, or projects and manage a team of physical design engineers.
  • Drive RTL-to-GDSII implementation: synthesis, floorplanning, place & route, clock tree synthesis, timing closure, power and signal integrity analysis, and physical verification.
  • Track schedules, identify risks early, and execute mitigation plans to ensure timely, high-quality delivery and PPA targets.
  • Apply and improve physical design methodologies and flows; promote best practices across teams.
  • Collaborate closely with architecture, RTL, CAD, DFT, timing, and global PD teams to resolve implementation challenges.
  • Provide technical guidance, hands-on support, mentoring, and career development for engineers.
  • Escalate risks, issues, and resource gaps to leadership promptly.

Requirements

Key must-have skills and experience for successful performance in this role.

  • 10+ years of experience in ASIC physical design and SoC implementation.
  • Proven experience leading a team of engineers and driving project-level physical design execution, including successful tapeouts.
  • Strong understanding of physical design methodologies, flows, and advanced process technologies.
  • Proficiency with ASIC design flows and commonly used EDA tools.
  • Strong technical problem-solving skills and effective communication with cross-functional teams.
  • Eligibility to access export-controlled technology where required by applicable law.

Nice-to-have:

  • Experience improving physical design methodologies and implementing automation or data-driven optimization.
